Disclaimer: this is a cool climate Syrah. It’s unique and tells a tale of terroir. It's opulence on the nose and palate tells of the long and cool ripening season, developing layers of forest fruits and east coast native trees in full bloom. There is a hint of umami on the nose too which sits proudly as a stamp of place - earthy, salty almost nori-like. Layer upon layer this wine continues to yield on the nose.

As for the palate; destemming the berries off the stalks and fermenting them whole has added an extra layer of elegance, freshness and berry fruit. Juniper, violet and just ripe-strawberry engulf the senses. The natural tannin kicks in to embrace the sweet fruits and carry them long across the palate. The texture is graphite-like and masculine, with integrated cedar spice from the oak barrels but ever so gently in the background letting the site shine. On the finish there is a subtle hint of fresh leather and cherry hinting at its time in bottle, the beginning of it spreading its wings. This wine has a long time ahead of it, if you’re patient!
